If necessary, they can refer you to a specialist for further care.

GPs take a holistic approach to your health, examining all organs and systems, which means you can come to them with any health issue. Whether you’re visiting from abroad, new to the UK system, or a long-time resident, GPs are your gateway to healthcare. They are particularly important for patients facing new symptoms and for those who haven’t had a check-up in a while.

People see GPs for acute issues, such as sudden illness that doesn’t require hospitalisation, as well as for chronic conditions that need continuous monitoring. GPs can track your health over time, manage ongoing treatments, and help with regular screenings. Whether you're coming in for a sudden flare-up of a chronic condition or for routine health checks, a GP is the right place to start.

Our GPs see patients of all ages, from children to adults, which means there’s no need to book separate appointments with a paediatrician. Our in-house doctors can examine children just as thoroughly as they do adults. After an initial diagnosis, they can recommend further tests or treatments, and they can refer you to a specialist such as a paediatric neurologist or a urologist if it makes sense.

At VisitHealth, we offer a range of minor procedures that are carried out either at the clinic or, in some cases, at home. Simple wound dressings, stitching up cuts, and the removal of stitches are all handled by our expert team. We also apply and remove casts and treat more complex cases like chronic ulcers (such as trophic ulcers) that require multiple visits for proper care.

Some procedures, like cleaning and stitching wounds, need to be done at the clinic under sterile conditions, but simpler wound dressings can be handled at your home, where we can send nurses or doctors to assess your condition and set up a care plan.

We do full and partial nail removal for conditions like ingrown nails, which can become inflamed and painful, and we handle the draining and treatment of abscesses, carbuncles, and boils. These minor surgeries can be done quickly at the clinic, often without an appointment. We have a dedicated room for these procedures, so you can simply book a time or walk in if you need to.

We also offer foreign body removal, such as extracting glass from a foot or a small object lodged in the nose. This is a common issue, especially with children, and we use X-rays to locate the object if necessary. In more complicated cases, we can refer you to a surgeon or specialist.

We perform ear wax removal, either through water irrigation or suction, using special equipment. Ingrown toenails, which lead to inflammation, are also treated, along with the care and treatment of burns. For simple burns, such as those arising from boiling water, we can provide care, but more severe burns will require specialist treatment in a burns centre.

Vaccination (sometimes people search for immunisation), is the process of helping the body develop immunity to specific diseases. It’s a way of preparing your immune system to fight off infections before they happen, either by introducing a part of the pathogen, like a virus, or by giving you ready-made antibodies. This doesn’t make you ill, but it does trigger an immune response so your body knows how to defend itself if it ever encounters the real thing.

There are different types of immunisations. Some are given to children as part of the standard vaccination schedule, while others are seasonal, such as the flu vaccine, which needs to be repeated annually, as immunity only lasts for a short time. Certain vaccines are required only once in a lifetime, while others might need boosters.

Immunisation is especially important for people working in certain professions, such as healthcare, where regular contact with blood or large groups of people increases the risk of infection. For these people, it’s vital to ensure their immunity is up to date.

At VisitHealth, we offer a wide range of vaccinations, including seasonal ones like the flu vaccine, as well as childhood immunisations according to the official schedule. We also provide vaccinations for travellers heading to regions with diseases not commonly found in the UK, like parts of Africa or South America. While we cover most vaccines, we do not offer the yellow fever vaccine.

At VisitHealth, we offer lab services seven days a week starting from 8:00 a.m. You can simply walk into the clinic to have your blood tests done, whether you already know the list of tests you need or not. If you’re unsure about which tests to take but feel something is off, our doctors can examine you and provide the necessary referrals. Blood samples can be taken at the clinic or in the comfort of your home, and we can send a nurse to collect them. You can also consult with a doctor in person or over a video call to discuss your needs and get the required referrals.

If you have a chronic condition and need regular blood tests, you can send us your list of required tests or even dictate it over the phone, and we’ll confirm everything and provide clear pricing before proceeding. We’ll also give you instructions on how to prepare for your tests: whether you need to refrain from eating, whether it’s best to do the test in the morning or afternoon, and whether food intake might affect the results. We ensure you have all the necessary information before your appointment, and we then collect your samples either from your home or at the clinic.

In addition to blood tests, we offer lab services such as genetic testing (usually through a saliva sample) and cancer screenings, where we analyse circulating tumour cells in the blood. We can also take samples for urine and stool tests, as well as swabs for infections, including cervical and urethral swabs. Essentially, we test all types of biological material and provide a wide range of diagnostics, from immunology to infection screening.

Physiotherapy is often a key part of pain management. Our physiotherapists’ personalised exercise programmes relieve pain and improve mobility. We use tools such as electrical stimulation, magnetic therapy, and other non-invasive treatments to ease muscle pain and inflammation.

For more complex cases, like chronic joint pain, treatments may involve medication, including corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. If the pain is linked to a neurological issue, such as migraines or lower back pain caused by a slipped disc, a neurologist may be involved to assess the situation and guide the treatment.

Pain management calls for collaboration. So if our neurologist rules out conditions like disc herniation, for instance, it means that any recommended physiotherapy or massage therapy can be both effective and safe.
