  • Early pregnancy scan 5-8 weeks

    VSEP

Have an Early Pregnancy Scan from the comfort of your own home!

In the first trimester, an early ultrasound can be taken as part of prenatal care between 5 to 8 weeks of pregnancy. However, a first-trimester ultrasound isn’t standard practice as it’s still too early for your practitioner to see your baby in detail. This is usually a routine scan performed for pregnancies occurring as a result of IVF treatments.

Most practitioners wait at least 6 weeks to perform the first pregnancy ultrasound. However, a gestational sac can be seen as early as 4 1/2 weeks after your last period. A fetal heartbeat can be detected at 5 to 6 weeks (though this is not always the case).

  • Follicle tracking scan

    VSTS

A Follicle Tracking ultrasound scan allows your referrer to assess the ovarian follicular activity throughout your natural or IVF cycle.

For natural cycles, referrers often request the first follicle tracking scan to be performed on the 9th day of your menstrual cycle. Day 1 is the first day of your last period. You may need an earlier or later scan depending on the length and regularity of your usual cycle. Your referrer will determine when the best day to start tracking your follicles.

The follicular growth pattern will be assessed by your referrer, who may recommend further scans performed at 1-2 day intervals to track the follicles as they develop. Doctors often request three follicle tracking scans in a single cycle so that they can watch the follicle as it matures.

For those having IVF treatment, your fertility specialist often requests a baseline follicle tracking scan on days 2-4 of your cycle. They will then plan your ovarian follicular stimulation based on these findings and start stimulating your ovaries with medication.

  • Fertility Check scan (Antral Follicle Count)

    VSFC

A Fertility Check helps to determine the female fertility potential (how long you have left to have a baby). Usually, this naturally decreases with age, but sometimes it can decrease faster or slower than expected.

In fertility treatment planning, the ovarian reserve test is used to indicate what the response will be to the stimulation of the ovaries, as well as the potential for success. Ovarian reserve testing relates to the tests taken to understand a woman’s ovarian reserve. There are two key tests in ovarian reserve testing - antral follicle count, and AMH blood tests. Together, these two tests provide an accurate assessment of the female reproductive potential.

  • First Trimester (Dating) Scan 11-14 weeks

    VSFT

The first scan is often referred to as the dating scan. At this stage of pregnancy, the sonographer is able to estimate when your baby is due (EDD) based on the baby's measurements.

The First Trimester Scan can be performed to assess the probability of certain major structural conditions. This pregnancy ultrasound scan confirms that baby’s heart is beating, and the number of babies you're expecting. Your baby’s head, brain, face, heart, stomach, bladder, hands and feet can be seen at this stage. We will also look at the placenta, amniotic fluid and umbilical cord.

  • Postmenopausal scan

    VSPO

This Postmenopausal scan is available to women one year after their last period.

Menopause can cause many uncomfortable symptoms such as irregular periods, hot flashes, chills, night sweats, mood changes, and weight gain. If you feel you are experiencing any of these problems, we recommend booking the visit for an ultrasound scan which will let you know if you are experiencing menopause.

This type of scan helps to assess the risk of ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related deaths among women. It results in 5 % of all cancer deaths in women.
