Professor Michael Henein, a distinguished faculty member at Umeå University, is a prominent figure in the field of cardiology. With foundational training at the University of the Philippines and advanced research at the Academy of Medicine Singapore, his expertise spans coronary calcification, heart failure, and valvular heart disease. Notably, he has contributed to the advancement of Doppler echocardiography in heart failure and valvular heart disease. Professor Henein’s career includes a significant tenure at Imperial College London and leading the Echocardiography Department at the Royal Brompton Hospital. His current research projects at Umeå University focus on coronary calcification and heart failure. An author of over 350 peer-reviewed papers and several textbooks, he is also the Founder and Editor in Chief of the International Cardiovascular Forum Journal.
