Dr. Samir Alwan is a distinguished Consultant Radiologist specializing in Paediatric and Cardiothoracic imaging. Since joining Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2019, he has brought extensive expertise in advanced imaging techniques, including general body CT, ultrasound, and MRI.
Dr. Alwan's medical journey began at Guy’s, Kings, and St Thomas’ Medical School, where he also earned an Intercalated BSc in Radiological Sciences. His radiology training included subspecialty experience at prestigious institutions such as Great Ormond Street and Royal Brompton Hospitals. He is well-regarded for his subspecialty proficiency in both paediatric and cardiothoracic imaging, making him a trusted expert in complex diagnostic cases.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Alwan is deeply committed to education and currently serves as the Training Programme Director for the Radiology training scheme. Notably, in 1993, he co-founded the UK's first female heart disease clinic at Royal Brompton Hospital, showcasing his dedication to advancing patient care and early diagnosis.
